New Bosch CORE18V 6.3 Ah Battery Features00 Cells

Another product featured at the World Of Concrete Las Vegas trade show was the Bosch CORE18V battery 6.3 AH.

Bosch 18V 6.0 ah battery packs are well-known. I recently reviewed the Bosch Bulldog 18V EC Brushless SM Plus 3 cm Rotary Hammer GBH18V26K. The question is why make an 18V 6.3 ah battery when they already have a 6.0 ah battery? The new Bosch CORE18V-6.3 Ah Battery has several improvements. Bosch claims that they use larger00 cells, which, according to Bosch, will offer more performance, longer life and run cooler due to CoolPack 2.0 technology.

The Bosch CORE18V Battery offers optimized cell technology and an improved power connector within the 10 high-density cells that ensure lower internal resistance. This means that cells can draw higher currents over a longer time.

The battery employs advanced Lithium-ion technology to deliver 80 percent more power than previous generation Bosch batteries. The next-generation Bosch CORE18V cells, which are high-powered and high-powered, are laser-welded and rail connected for high efficiency. This allows CORE18V batteries, which are up to 24% lighter and up to 35% larger, to provide better performance than comparable batteries.

The battery housing of Bosch CORE18V is designed to transfer more heat to the outer surface, resulting in up to 35 percent better cooling effect than previous CoolPack batteries. The CoolPack 2.0 system employs advanced design to keep the battery cooler for better runtime and longer life; updated CoolPack technology provides up to 135 percent longer battery life than batteries that dont have CoolPack technology.

The individual battery cells are larger than traditional 18650 cells use in current batteries making the newBosch CORE18V 6.3 Ah Battery considerably larger than current Bosch 18V FatPack batteries. Thisis becauseBosch is using the newer larger00 cells in these new batteries and the claims back them up as other brands that use00 cells make similar claims. The new Bosch CORE18V 6.33 Ah Battery is about the same length as the Dewalt Flexvolt 6 and Milwaukee 18V HD 9.0 batteries, but it’s a little shorter because the Bosch Core18V battery only runs 10 cells rather than the 15 that the other batteries use. The Bosch CORE18V battery 6.3 Ah has a traditional cell configuration with two rows of five cells each. We can also expect the new CORE18V battery to be heavier than traditional fatpack batteries as well.

Bosch claims that the new batteries are faster to charge than other brands. According to their own comparison, the 8-minute charge rate per AH is claimed by Bosch with the CORE18V charging system. At this rate the new battery should charge in about 48 minutes according to their own statement. Thats very fast if true. Just for a comparison, Makitas 18V 6.0 ah battery charges in 55 minutes.

Of course the newBosch CORE18V 6.3 Ah Battery will be backwards compatible with existing Bosch 18V lithium ion slide pack battery tools.

We should be able to expect these new batteries out soon and will retail for about in the US and in Canada.
