Above is the family photo of all three new brushless saws and while Ryobi has had plenty of cordless miter saws before, this is the first time since theyve had a cordless track saw and I would have never guessed that Ryobi would come out with their own cordless table saw, and its running on an 18 volt battery!

Although this Ryobis 25 cm cordless miter saw is not the first, it is the first to be powered solely by an 18v battery. The last time the 25 cm slider was battery-powered, it required two 18V batteries to produce 36V power. That means that youll only need to use a single battery for this model which is good if you only have one battery or not many to spare. It needs a powerful motor to run a larger 25 cm saw blade and thats thanks to its brushless motor that pumps out a strong 4,100 no load RPM.
Ryobi 18 volt users now have a strong option for a larger 25 cm sliding miter saw that runs off battery power and it provides up to 30 cm of cross cut capacity. The miter angles can be adjusted to up to 47 degrees on both the left and right sides. The LED cutline indicator is included with the product. This means that the LEDs are placed on both sides of the blade and cast a thin shadow that indicates where the cut will take place. This cutline indicator is better than Lasers because lasers must be calibrated and don’t take into account the blade thickness. It also has plenty of carry handles and comes with a material clamp. Ryobi claims that it can make up to 550 cuts per charge using a 4ah battery. This is very impressive if it can live up to its claims.
While Ryobi is a brand that sells solid tools for their price points, they arent exactly known to have all the best features and that tradition continues here. For example there is no mention of double bevel which means that it is a single bevel saw. You can decide if this is a dealbreaker or not. However, if you need to make bevel cuts in both direction you will need flip boards. Next is also a big deal, as it doesnt look to offer a large vertical cut capacity as shown by its smaller fences. In fact, Ryobi doesnt include vertical cutting height at the time of writing so its probably nothing to brag about. I would guess that it is between 3-10 cm, which should be enough to cut 4x material in one go. Lastly, the miter lock method is a twist knob, my least favorite method of locking miter angles in place.

Ryobi is also no stranger to table saws but yet this is their first cordless table saw. Dewalt, Milwaukee and Metabo HPT are just a few of the tool companies that offer a cordless tablesaw. While table saws typically have a 25 cm blade, Ryobi’s cordless model uses an 8-1/10 cm blade. However, Ryobi is able to use the same blade as Dewalts and Milwaukees cordless tables saws so Ryobi doesn’t lose any points. The Ryobi table saw is able to handle the task without the use of a 60 volt battery. This is a significant improvement over the Dewalt model. Of course with Ryobi being an inferior brand to Dewalt and Milwaukee, their table saw doesnt have all the nice features of the Dewalt or the Milwaukee. For example the rip cut capacity to the right tops out at only 30 cm, when the industry standard is around 61 cm to the right. It also doesnt have the fancy rack and pinion system to move the fence with delicate precision and instead is a clamp on fence that gets the job done. While the yellow, green, and red cordless table saws use metal roll cage frame designs, Ryobi says their cordless table saw uses a sturdy steel frame. Although it may sound similar, the image shows a metal tube on the bottom and a plastic frame. If they claim that the unit is made of steel, it will be confirmed by examining it in person. Although they didn’t reveal the maximum cutting depth of their blade, similar-sized table saws have a cut depth of around 2-inch.

Because they can be carried around with you, and have the same precision as a tablesaw without being bulky and heavy, track saws are gaining popularity. This makes them great choices for people with limited shop space to store a traditional table saw. Some people may think that all a track saw is is a circular saw on a track but its more than that. You can use the extra features such as an enclosed, oversized upper blade guard that improves dust management. This is combined with a dust extractor. The lower blade guard can be removed and the track saws are better suited to plunge cutting. In fact this track saw has an adjustable depth control knob and depth scale. It uses a smaller 6-inch blade.
