Ridgid’s 4.0 and 5.0 Ah batteries have been around for some time. The reason to be excited about the new Ridgid18V3ah Hyper Octane BatteryAC840088 is that it is a slimpack battery approximately half the size of the current 5.8 ah battery. It is made up of 5 cells, making it a small battery with a good size/weight ratio.
Ridgid claims that the new Hyper Octane 6ah and 9ah batteries will produce more power when used in conjunction with their Octane brushless tool, and the same applies to the 3ah battery. This is because power and runtime are distinct terms. We all know that bigger batteries offer more runtime due to the fact they have a larger gas tank. Therefore, more power means better performance. I am curious to see how much more performance they offer. The carry over feature, which includes the 4 bar fuel gauge seen on older batteries, comes with a 3-year warranty.
All new Ridgid Hyper Octane battery models, including the 3.0 Ah, will be available July 2022. This is just days away as of this writing. The pricing for the Hyper Octane 3ah battery will be for one battery pack, one 6ah battery, and one 9ah battery.
